At the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge we are looking to recruit a permanent Programmer to be responsible for development and maintenance of the 3D electron microscopy (EM) image processing software within the LMB. Primary responsibilities will include overseeing the installation and updating of the various software packages; teaching and advising post-docs and students on image processing problems; and providing significant input in collaborations with experimental groups on joint research projects. The successful applicant must also be capable of independent research, e.g. software development of image processing tools.

The person appointed will be expected to maintain an intelligent overview and awareness of the available software used for EM, whether developed within LMB or elsewhere in the world, although they need not have direct experience or expertise with every package (training on-the-job may be provided in this respect).
