Lectureship in crystallography at the University of Newcastle

an opportunity has arisen in newcastle for a lecturer in macromolecular crystallography. the postholder would either share lab space with my group, or occupy space in the lab next door that we have spread into recently. to see what things we have been up to, have a look here: http:sbl.ncl.ac.uk.

the successful candidate would be expected to run projects of their own that are demonstrably fundable and to fit in the (rather broad) ethos of the institute for cell and molecular biosciences in which the position is based (see http://www.ncl.ac.uk/camb/). there are also plenty of opportunities to engage in collaborative projects across the institute, which have led to significant joint publications in the past in e.g. Cell and Nature. the postholder will be expected to teach on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fullness of time, but they will be protected from too much teaching in the first instance.

new starters have traditionally been provided with a PhD student to help them get going and some start-up funds; the precise package available will depend on the successful candidate's negotiating skills(!) and their current situation (e.g. on a personal fellowship, and/or has a group to move).
